2018 DTBA Black Hills Buffalo Classic - Home of the North American Producer’s Challenge

Featuring: Young Guns Yearling Bull Challenge & Girlz Gone Wild Yearling Heifer Challenge

Produced By: Dakota Territory Buffalo Association
Host Ranch: Heartland Bison, Rugby, North Dakota

Enter your best bull and heifer calves in a performance tested competition against some of the best producers in the United States and Canada. With $7500 in cash and prizes up for grabs, we challenge you to bring us your best and put them to the test! To be eligible for the North American Producer’s Challenge cash award, consignors must enter both classes in the same year.

Bull calves are delivered to the host ranch and will go through a grass test and then on to a feed test. Scoring will be based on incoming weight, grass gain, feed gain, overall gain and live judging. The top third scoring bulls will be offered for sale at the Black Hills Buffalo Classic Auction in February 2019. Entry fee is $1200 per animal.

Heifer calves are delivered to the host ranch and will be on a basic grass test for most of the competition period. The heifers will finish out on a short pasture/self-feeder test to put a little bloom on them for the auction! Scoring will be based on incoming weight, grass gain, feed test gain and live judging. The top scoring heifers will be offered for sale at the Black Hills Buffalo Classic Auction in February 2019. Entry fee is $875 per animal.
