National Bison Association Regenerative Bison Field Day
Pleasant Valley Preserve - Crystal Lake, IL – October 15th
October 3, 2022 (Crystal Lake, IL) – The National Bison Association (NBA), in cooperation with Ruhter Bison LLC and the Illinois/Indiana Bison Association, will hold its third Regenerative Bison Ranching Field Day in Union, IL on Saturday, October 15th in the six-workshop series funded by a grant from the North Central Region Sustainable Agriculture Education and Research (SARE) at the University of Minnesota.
The day will begin at McHenry County College-Scots Room/Cafeteria (8900 US Hwy 14, Crystal Lake, IL 60012) and conclude at Pleasant Valley Bison Ranch, McHenry County, IL (14935 Pleasant Valley Road, Union, IL). The field day will feature both classroom and field sessions that will cover an array of topics that will showcase how to utilize bison as a tool in regenerating healthy soils and grasslands, while sequestering carbon and adding value to your farm or ranch.
Said event organizer and NBA Program Manager, Lydia Whitman, “This is a great opportunity to come out and see first-hand how to raise bison in a regenerative manner that is not only good for the land that they graze on, but also for the farm’s bottom line. This is a well rounded day that will not only focus on regenerative agriculture in the field, but other components that makeup a successful bison operation, including how to fund your operation, a bison management producer panel Q&A, even a cooking demonstration and bison lunch. There’s something here for everyone.”
Registration is just $30/person and includes access to all field day sessions and a bison lunch. Please register online at - https://bisoncentral.com/nba-illinois-regenerative-workshop/.
The NBA thanks the North Central Region Sustainable Agriculture Education and Research (SARE) and the University of Minnesota for their support in this project. Learn more at https://https://www.sare.org/.
